The KTM™ Model AK & AW Pneumatic Actuators, developed by Emerson, are compact, high-performance rotary actuators designed for reliable quarter-turn valve operation. Engineered for butterfly, ball, and plug valves, the AK (single-acting) and AW (double-acting) models deliver smooth, efficient, and consistent torque output, ensuring precise valve control in a wide range of process automation applications. These actuators are built with advanced rack-and-pinion mechanisms, offering excellent torque transmission, low friction, and balanced operation. The Model AW provides bi-directional control through double-acting operation, while the Model AK features a spring-return design for fail-safe functionality, automatically returning the valve to a safe position during air or power loss. Designed for corrosive and hazardous environments, the KTM AK & AW Series feature hard-anodized aluminum housings, stainless-steel shafts, and high-performance seals that ensure long service life and reduced maintenance. Their compact, modular design allows for easy integration with various valve types and accessories, including solenoid valves, limit switches, and positioners.

- Double acting and single acting type are of the same shape and dimension (AK)
- Double rack and pinion gear construction produces of AK a smooth uniform stroke throughout the whole range. The AW has a Scotch yoke structure and uses a double piston system to generate high output.
- Guide rod eliminates side loading of the piston for smooth actuation and greater durability
- Double rack design of AK allows for a larger cylinder bore and shorter piston stroke, resulting in a more compact unit and high torque
- ISO 5211 mounting pattern to provide the greatest flexibility for valve adaptation (AK)
- Air supply port (piping seat) and stem top of AK conform to NAMUR standards for simple and direct mounting of accessories
- Interchangeable spring return sets according to each operating pressure/torqe.
