Fisher™ EZ-OVT Valve Trim
Fisher EZ-OVT valve trim is dual seat valve trim, designed to maintain long term tight shutoff in on/off services that contain particulates in the flow stream, such as catalyst fines. These valves are used to control and purge the hydrogen and nitrogen transfer gases used in the UOP continuous catalytic regeneration (CCR) refining process.
The Fisher™ EZ-OVT (EZ-Overtravel) Valve Trim is a patented, specialized dual-seat trim design engineered for integration into Fisher easy-e™ EZ globe-style control valves, particularly for demanding on/off applications in hydrocarbon and refining processes. It excels in services containing particulates, such as catalyst fines, by providing long-term tight shutoff while minimizing erosion and particulate buildup. The trim features a primary soft seat for initial tight sealing and a secondary metal seat for backup integrity, ensuring compliance with ANSI/FCI 70-2 Class VI and IEC 60534-4 Class VI leakage standards. A unique double deadband mechanism creates a buffer zone that prevents direct erosive flow across seating surfaces during initial opening, reducing wear. Once the valve travels beyond the deadband (typically at 20% open), a specialized flow deflector redirects the process stream away from the seats, protecting them from further abrasion. Large flow passages and a minimal number of moving parts further inhibit the accumulation of solids like catalyst fines, which could otherwise lead to valve sticking or failure. This trim is specifically optimized for the UOP Continuous Catalytic Regeneration (CCR) process in fluid catalytic cracking units, where it controls and purges hydrogen and nitrogen transfer gases. It supports post-guided, unbalanced valve plug configurations in NPS 1/2 to 4 sizes through CL600 ratings, with quick-change trim for easy maintenance. Materials are selected for compatibility with NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 sour service standards, and ENVIRO-SEAL™ packing options ensure low fugitive emissions. The design promotes operational reliability in non-lubricating, viscous, or particulate-laden fluids, with no lapping required for EZ-OVT trim to preserve the precise overtravel geometry.

Feature of Fisher™ EZ-OVT Valve Trim
- EZ-OVT trim features a dual seat design that includes a primary soft seat and a secondary metal seat. This dual seat design provides long term ANSI and IEC Class VI shutoff.
- A double deadband area is built into the trim to inhibit erosive flow across the seating surfaces as the trim starts to open.
- A special flow deflector directs the flow stream away from the seating surfaces once the valve has traveled off the seat.
- Large flow passages and minimal moving parts reduce particulate build-up such as catalyst fines that could collect in these areas and cause failure.
