Hydraulic Rack & Pinion Actuator

A compact, high-torque subsea hydraulic rack & pinion actuator designed for reliable quarter-turn valve control in deepwater applications.

The ATV Subsea Hydraulic Rack & Pinion Actuator is a high-performance quarter-turn hydraulic actuator designed for controlling subsea ball valves in harsh offshore environments. Built for compactness and dependable torque output, it uses a rack-and-pinion mechanism that ensures efficient rotary motion with minimal footprint and weight.

Available in single-acting (spring return) or double-acting configurations, the actuator is pressure-balanced and equipped with an integrated compensation system for ultra-deepwater use. It supports fast stroking for safety-critical systems such as ESDV and HIPPS, and includes an ROV interface that allows local intervention without fluid displacement.

Engineered with redundant sealing, corrosion-resistant materials, mechanical position indication, and compatibility with functional safety architectures up to SIL-3, the actuator is validated to major industry standards. A wide range of custom options is available, including diver/ROV retrievability, special hydraulic connectors, orientation options, and compatibility with ATV’s all-electric subsea actuator.
