Fisher™ TBX-T Desuperheater
The Fisher TBX-T desuperheater can be used in many applications to efficiently reduce the temperature of superheated steam to the desired set point. The TBX-T is available for installation in steam lines from DN 200 through DN 1200 (NPS 8 through 48) in diameter and are capable of maintaining steam temperatures to within 6°C (10°F) of saturation temperatures. Water atomization and vaporization are key elements in any steam conditioning application. The TBX-T design incorporates a spraywater manifold of variable geometry AF nozzles that produce a spray pattern over a wide operating range. These nozzles are strategically placed to achieve mixing and quick vaporization at all flowing conditions.
The Fisher™ TBX-T Desuperheater is a high-performance, turbine bypass steam conditioning valve with integrated desuperheating, specifically engineered for severe steam temperature and pressure reduction in modern power plants. It combines a high-capacity TBX steam conditioning body with an advanced Whisper Trim™ cage-guided trim for noise attenuation and a proprietary thermally compensated multi-nozzle spraywater atomization system. The TBX-T achieves precise temperature control (±3–5 °C / ±5–9 °F of setpoint) even at extreme pressure drops up to 350 bar (5075 psi) and turn-down ratios exceeding 50:1. The spraywater system uses spring-loaded, self-cleaning nozzles that maintain constant atomization quality across the full operating range, preventing thermal shock to downstream piping. Designed for high-cycle turbine bypass, hot reheat, and cold reheat applications, the TBX-T minimizes thermal fatigue, eliminates water dropout, and provides excellent rangeability in both condensing and non-condensing steam services. Available in angle or globe configurations with forged or cast bodies, it is the preferred solution for combined-cycle, supercritical, and ultra-supercritical power plants worldwide.

Feature of Fisher™ TBX-T Desuperheater
- CFD designed spray manifold determines water injection point and insertion depth for mixing and quick vaporization.
- The TBX-T has the option of including an integral thermal liner inside the steam pipe. This construction is most commonly used in boiler interstage attemperation applications, where the desuperheater is exposed to high thermal cycling and stress, high steam velocities, and flow-induced vibration. The liner reduces the potential for thermal shock when cool water is introduced to the unit that is already heated to the operating steam temperature.
- The TBX-T desuperheater incorporates a spraywater manifold of variable geometry type AF nozzles that produce a spray pattern over a wide operating range. These nozzles are strategically placed to achieve mixing and quick vaporization at all flowing conditions.
