The Shafer™ L-Series Gas Over Oil Valve Actuator, developed by Emerson, is a high-torque, quarter-turn or multi-turn actuator designed for reliable valve automation in remote natural gas pipeline and wellhead applications. This actuator utilizes pipeline gas pressure as its power source, converting it into hydraulic energy to deliver smooth, powerful, and controlled valve operation — even under extreme field conditions.
The L-Series features a proven gas-over-oil operating principle, which combines the efficiency of pneumatic systems with the precision of hydraulic control. Gas from the pipeline enters the actuator’s hydraulic chamber, where it is separated from the oil by a piston, ensuring clean, efficient energy transfer and protection of internal components from contamination.
Built for onshore and offshore environments, the Shafer L-Series actuator delivers consistent performance, long service life, and low maintenance requirements.
