It is designed to provide fail-safe actuation for Emergency Shut Down(ESD) valves. The Bettis Standard EHO provides a straight forward, simple, reliable ESD actuator solution.

The Bettis RPE-Series Pneumatic Rack and Pinion Valve Actuator is a compact, high-performance rotary actuator designed to provide precise, reliable quarter-turn motion for a wide range of industrial valve applications. Developed by Emerson, the RPE-Series offers a powerful, efficient, and cost-effective solution for on/off and modulating control of ball, butterfly, and plug valves across various process industries. The RPE-Series utilizes a rack and pinion mechanism, converting pneumatic energy into smooth rotary motion with high torque output and consistent performance throughout the stroke. This design ensures accurate valve positioning, minimal hysteresis, and long operating life, even under high-cycle or harsh process conditions. Available in both double-acting and spring-return (fail-safe) configurations, the RPE-Series provides flexible control options for systems requiring fail-open or fail-close operation during air supply loss.
