V-shaped Packing Seals
VPack-Seals, short for V-shaped Packing Seals, are precision-engineered multiple-lip sealing systems designed to perform in high-pressure, high-temperature, and cryogenic environments. These seals consist of a stack of V-shaped rings (chevrons) supported by male and female adaptors, which help distribute load and ensure effective compression. Each lip in the VPack set independently responds to system pressure, allowing an immediate sealing reaction even under minor fluctuations.
VPack-Seals are essential in applications where sealing performance is critical to safety and efficiency. Commonly used in valves, SPE/DPE seats, actuators, and other pressurized equipment, these seals offer reliable performance in environments that demand ultra-low fugitive emissions. Their configuration ensures automatic pressure distribution along shafts, making them ideal for both static and dynamic systems in the oil and gas, petrochemical, and cryogenic sectors.
These seals are built to handle the most challenging operational conditions, offering extrusion resistance up to 15,000 psi and a broad temperature range from -196°C to +250°C. The initial pre-load, combined with system pressure, ensures continuous contact with mating surfaces. VPack-Seals demonstrate excellent chemical resistance and maintain ultra-low leakage performance, even under sour service conditions or sudden pressure shocks. Importantly, they come with no shelf-life limitations, making them easy to stock and deploy as needed.
Material customization is at the core of VPack-Seal performance. Depending on the specific application, seals can be made from hard thermoplastics for extreme pressure and chemical environments or softer elastomers for flexible sealing in lower-pressure systems. For cryogenic uses, VPack-Seals are available with automatic metal spring expanders that prevent shrinkage at extremely low temperatures, maintaining sealing integrity even down to -196°C.
