High Performance Metal Seals
High Performance Metal Seals are engineered for extreme service conditions where elastomeric or PTFE seals are no longer viable. Designed to deliver exceptional tightness under extreme temperatures, pressures, and aggressive media, these resilient metallic seals ensure leak-tight performance in the most demanding environments.
Suitable for applications well beyond the limits of conventional seals, metal seals operate in cryogenic to ultra-high temperature ranges, withstanding very high pressure without degradation. Their infinite shelf life and metal-to-metal sealing performance make them ideal for critical aerospace, nuclear, oil & gas, and chemical processing applications.
Each seal can be plated or coated with soft, ductile materials (e.g., silver, gold, aluminum) to enhance sealing by conforming to surface imperfections in the flange or groove, ensuring optimal performance even on imperfect mating surfaces.
Typical seal profiles include C-Rings, E-Rings, O-Rings, and Spring-Energized Seals, all customizable to meet exacting customer specifications. These seals are available in a range of high-performance materials including Inconel, Stainless Steel, Monel, Hastelloy, and Titanium.

Uses of High Performance Metal Seals
-
Aerospace & Aviation:
Used in jet engines, fuel systems, and spacecraft for sealing under extreme heat, pressure, and vibration where elastomer seals would fail. -
Oil & Gas Industry:
Critical for sealing in high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) drilling and production environments. Used in wellheads, valves, and subsea connectors. -
Nuclear & Energy Sector:
Employed in reactor cores, containment systems, and high-pressure piping, where absolute sealing and resistance to radiation are essential. -
Chemical & Pharmaceutical Plants:
Used where exposure to corrosive chemicals or aggressive media requires reliable, inert sealing – often with coatings like silver or gold. -
Cryogenics & Vacuum Systems:
Ideal for ultra-low temperature environments like liquid nitrogen/helium systems and high-vacuum chambers in research labs or semiconductor facilities.
Importance of High Performance Metal Seals
-
Operate in Extreme Conditions:
These seals can withstand temperatures from cryogenic levels up to +1000°C and pressures exceeding 60,000 psi, far beyond elastomer limits. -
Long-Term Reliability:
Metal seals offer infinite shelf life, are non-permeable, and maintain integrity even after years of service—crucial for mission-critical applications. -
Chemical and Media Resistance:
Resistant to corrosive gases and fluids, ensuring safe operation in harsh chemical processing and offshore environments. -
Precision Sealing:
When coated with soft metals (e.g., silver), they adapt to micro-imperfections, ensuring tight, leak-free sealing even in imperfect or reused flanges. -
Customizable and Reusable:
Metal seals can be engineered to exact dimensions and reused multiple times, reducing cost and downtime in long-term operations.
